On Christmas in 2014 The Beatles seventh studio album, Revolver, was the first album I got on vinyl. It came with a pair of speakers, a turntable and a handwritten note from my dad. The note reads “One of the best, if not the best records of all time for your first record. Love dad.” Maybe I’m biased but I believe this statement to be true. But this version, this exact record with this note tucked in its sleeve? That’s irreplaceable for me and certainly the most meaningful record in my collection.
Growing up I would play this record so much it is now burned into me, and whenever I hear it I am transported back to my bedroom in Lawrence, Kansas. This album makes me cry and it makes my sing with happiness.
